Miriam's Kitchen Awarded Honorable Mention for Outstanding Board Leadership

We are proud to share news with you that Miriam's Kitchen has been selected as an honorable mention recipient of the 2012 Board Leadership Award from the Center for Nonprofit Advancement.

“The Board Leadership Award highlights organizations that have surpassed the standard by demonstrating extraordinary governance,” said Center CEO Glen O’Gilvie. “We are motivated by the exceptional practices exhibited by each of our 2012 nominees and proud to acknowledge Miriam's Kitchen as a 2012 Honorable Mention Recipient.”

The Center for Nonprofit Advancement, in partnership with Reznick Group and BoardSource, launched the Board Leadership Award in 2011 to recognize and spotlight outstanding leadership from Boards of Directors of Washington-area nonprofit organizations. The award recognizes the role that boards play in building and sustaining successful organizations—assuring that they are well led, well supported and responsive to the people and communities they serve.

"Miriam’s Kitchen has long recognized the need for an engaged board, thoughtful leadership, and best-in-class board governance practices. This Award helps confirm that we are indeed a board that is able to tackle tough problems and set an inspiring vision," said Scott Schenkelberg, Executive Director of Miriam's Kitchen.

It is only with your support that we were nominated for this prestigious award, and we thank you for inspiring our Board of Directors to tackle difficult issues and develop ambitious plans for change.

With your help and the guidance of our Board, we are confident we can end chronic homelessness in DC.
