Miriam's Kitchen's programs operate five days a week, all year long, no matter the weather or the holiday.
Meals are served at Miriam's Kitchen every weekday. In 2013, we served 71,948 meals. All of our food is made with fresh ingredients that include whole grains, fresh meats, and local and organic fruit and vegetables
Breakfast is served between 6:30-8 am and dinner is served between 4:45-5:45 pm.
Additionally, a light lunch is served every Wednesday from12-2 pm. .
We provide case management services whenever our doors are open: Monday through Friday from 6:30-9:45 am and 2:30-5:45 pm, and Wednesdays from 6:30-9:45 am and noon-5:45 pm.
Our services include everything from providing clean clothing and resume assistance to referrals for mental health care and connections to housing. This year alone we will provide case management services to about 5,000 of our guests.
Our approach to advocacy is guided in an effort to educate our elected officials towards more effective public policies. We believe that homeless advocacy is most effective when it has been informed by those who have experienced homelessness, so we work to empower and train our guests to advocate on their own behalf. Each Tuesday morning, our guest-led advocacy program, The People For Fairness Coalition, meets in the MK dining room, to focus on advocacy strategies and solutions.
