A special day of service

For more than a decade, Booz Allen Hamilton has been an incredible partner of Miriam’s Kitchen.

We have counted on their volunteers to help with everything from flipping pancakes and rolling crepes during our breakfast shift, to collecting thousands of boxes of healthy cereal and even being the late-night clean-up crew for our 100 Bowls of Compassion gala each year.

This past Monday, we celebrated a very special day with our Booz Allen team.

In an effort to strengthen communities and empower individuals to make a difference, Monday marked the MLK Day of Service; a component of the President’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve

Again, we counted on Booz Allen volunteers to prepare and serve breakfast to our homeless guests.  Together they cooked a delicious, homemade meal that included waffles with fresh berry sauce and whipped cream, egg sandwiches with ham and cheese, stone ground grits, home fries, and fruit smoothies.

Volunteer Sous Chef and Booz Allen staff member Sophie Buslik shared, “Volunteering at Miriam's Kitchen is the highlight of my week. I love the hustle and bustle of the kitchen, working meticulously to make sure every bite is delicious, and most importantly, making the guests happy! MLK Day was especially exciting as I got to share this wonderful experience with my colleagues.”

We continue to be grateful to the many individuals and groups who help make our homeless guests feel so cared for.

Special thanks this week to Booz Allen for taking such good care of our guests!
