At Miriam’s Kitchen, we rely on over 2,500 volunteers so that we can provide our full range of services.
We're so glad you're interested in volunteering at Miriam's Kitchen and ending chronic homelessness in DC! All volunteers need to commit to at least one shift per month on an ongoing basis. By attending our orientation, you acknowledge and agree to this commitment. Please note that you will not be able to begin volunteering without having attended an orientation first.

Here is some helpful information on volunteering at Miriam's Kitchen - general guidelines and FAQ's
These are the four major areas where we use volunteers.
Volunteers can help serve a meal or do prep work for a future meal. We ask that kitchen volunteers commit to one regular shift per month.
Breakfast: Monday - Friday, 6:00am – 8:30am
Dinner: Monday - Friday, 4:00pm – 6:30pm
Prep: Monday, 11:30am – 1:30pm; Tuesday and Thursday, 12-2pm

Volunteers can help distribute toiletries, fulfill clothing orders, or simply engage with our guests. Some volunteers help by giving haircuts, manicures, or writing resumes. Do you have some other skills to offer? Let us know!
Hours: Monday -Friday, 6:30 – 8:00am, 4:00 – 5:45pm
Volunteers can lead a writing group or assist the art therapist before, during or after studio time.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:15 – 9:45am, 2:30 – 4pm

Volunteers can support the advocacy team by lending your writing, communications, and media skills to our campaign.
