Miriam's Kitchen Awarded Honorable Mention for Outstanding Board Leadership
We are proud to share news with you that Miriam's Kitchen has been selected as an honorable mention recipient of the 2012 Board Leadership Award from the Center for Nonprofit Advancement.
Recipe: Farmers Market Gazpacho
This is a great way to take advantage of your local farmers market during the summer.
This recipe is low maintenance and can sit a few days. Plus, you can substitute ingredients easily. Pick your favorite tomatoes, hot peppers, herbs and vegetables. You really can’t go wrong.

4 Guests Receiving Housing TODAY!
This afternoon, four of our guests will open the door to homes of their own.
For one of them, this is the first time they've lived indoors in more than 5 years.
As we prepare them to move into housing today, we are reminded of a man who also experienced the thrill of moving into his own home around this time last year.
Meet Michael.
Michael is a Vietnam veteran, a former medical professional and recovering drug addict. He's 62 years old and has been part of the Miriam's Kitchen community for four years.
You're Invited: Stories From The Kitchen
Have you always wanted to know more about the guests you serve during your volunteer shift or support through generous donations?
Please join us at Theater J on Tuesday, June 26th at 7:30 pm for Stories from the Kitchen: Monologues Written by the Guests of Miriam's Kitchen.
The monologues will be read on stage by Theater J actors, including Rick Foucheux and David Emerson Toney. The performance is open to the public and free of charge.
Like Father, Like Daughter
For many of us, this Father’s Day weekend is a time to show our gratitude for the wonderful role models our fathers (and father figures) have been for us.
In talking with some of the dads who are a special part of Miriam’s Kitchen, we’ve found that the best gift a dad can receive is something quite simple: time with their loved ones.
Five Amazing (and Slightly Wacky) Things Our Volunteers Have Been Up To
On Saturday, we're hosting our annual Volunteer Appreciation BBQ and while we've been collecting RSVPs (get yours in today by emailing Ashley), we've also been getting some interesting stories about what our volunteers have been up to lately.
Some are so interesting that we can't help but share them. Here are a few of our favorites:
Meet Bebe: Victim No More
Bebe's Story
By the time Bebe enrolled in classes at Bard College, she was already a world traveler.
Her father worked with the United Nations and his job took his family to faraway places like Japan, Thailand and Singapore. Bebe even spent her high school years in Indonesia before coming back to the United States for college.
Bebe had the best of everything: a loving family, a good education and worldly experiences that left her excited for what was sure to be a bright future.
Our Chefs Need You! Can You Help Today?
It's that time of year again: when the Miriam's Kitchen chefs ask for help in stocking our shelves to prepare for the next 6 months of meals.
What's on their wish list today?
Join Us For Our Summer BBQ!
We aren't done celebrating you yet!
To thank you for your continued hard work and generosity, we'd like to invite you to our upcoming Volunteer Appreciation BBQ.
On Saturday, June 9th from 5-7 pm we'll be hosting a family-friendly BBQ at Miriam's Kitchen just for our wonderful volunteers. We'll also be awarding our Volunteer of the Year awards!
