Did you know?
Mayor Bowser will unveil her $18 billion proposed budget in just three weeks!
For context, this budget is critical to our collective work to end homelessness in DC and will determine:
- The number of residents we can help access life-saving housing
- The number of evictions we can prevent
- The types of support services are available to those experiencing homelessness
DC’s budget must prioritize ending chronic homelessness per Mayor Bowser’s previously outlined goals. Therefore, we need your help to ensure the upcoming budget reflects the demands of The Way Home Campaign’s 7,000 supporters and 110 partner organizations.
What Are Our Budget Demands?
The Way Home Campaign calls on Mayor Bowser to:
- Invest $26 million in Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) for 500 individuals and 260 families
- Invest $700,000 in homeless prevention for single adults
- Fully fund the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) and DC’s homeless street outreach network
- Address DC’s dire lack of low-income housing by making substantial investments in the Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF), low-income housing vouchers, repairs to public housing, and short-term support options
- Invest in housing for returning citizens and youth experiencing homelessness
