Today at noon, the DC Council will vote on emergency legislation to stop the eviction of homeless encampments and to refocus DC’s homeless services system on housing, not harm.
We need your help!
Without support from nine Councilmembers, the legislation will fail and DC will continue using taxpayer dollars to forcefully evict encampments. Encampment evictions are traumatic for residents and, during a global pandemic and colder temperatures, this approach goes against CDC guidance as well as the advice of local and national experts.

Thanks to historic housing investments in the fiscal year 2022 budget, DC has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to end homelessness for thousands of our neighbors. To seize this opportunity, we must shift our focus away from displacing those sleeping outside and refocus on what we know works to end homelessness: housing.
