Miriam’s Kitchen has provided testimony to the DC Council in support of the Defund Police movement. Following the leadership of Black organizers, MK recognizes this initiative as instrumental in freeing our city of state-sanctioned violence; and in making available much-needed funding that can be used to keep communities safe for everyone by providing things like:
- repairs to public housing
- school-based mental health support
- a fully-funded Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement; and more.
