Housing and Human Services Professional; Former Housing Assistance Bureau Chief, Arlington County Department of Human Services

Cindy Stevens is a housing and human services professional now retired from Arlington County Department of Human Services (DHS). At DHS Cindy led the Housing Assistance Bureau which included Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), Housing Grant, and Homeless Services programs. The Bureau programs served 2500 low-income persons annually and staffed the County’s Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness. In an earlier role, she coordinated a large inter-departmental and community- wide planning effort that resulted in a Supportive Housing Plan for persons with disabilities. Ms. Stevens successfully led implementation of the plan including development of the Mary Marshall Assisted Living Residence and many other supportive housing options.

Her career also included serving in a variety of public service positions including non-profit housing development, federal poverty programs, public housing, and housing management consulting and training. She has a bachelor’s degree in Government from Skidmore College and a MS degree in Urban Studies from Cleveland State University. She is a member of Western Presbyterian Church and represents the Church on the MK Board.
