2026 Annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count

With the help of provider agencies and hundreds of volunteers, on January 28th, 2026, our community will come together to complete a Point-in-Time (PIT) Count of persons experiencing homelessness in the District. The PIT Count provides a snapshot of the scope and scale of homelessness at a single point in time in a community and is an important tool that helps policy makers and service providers address the issues confronted by individuals and families who experience homelessness in the District. Without understanding a household’s needs and experiences, we would be left guessing at what interventions would be successful in moving families and individuals into stable housing.

Miriam’s Kitchen is a lead agency in this effort and will be coordinating teams of volunteers to canvass the Adams Morgan, Foggy Bottom, and National Mall neighborhoods on the night of PIT completing surveys with individuals encountered who are sleeping outside that night. Would you like to join our team and help us collect this important data? Click here to register now!
