Meet Our Guest Advisory Board
About the Guest Advisory Board
The Guest Advisory Board (GAB) is MK’s newest guest leadership initiative. Launched in early 2023, the group is comprised of 7 guest leaders who work in partnership with the MK staff group to inform and make decisions about the collective work to end homelessness – both at Miriam’s Kitchen and in the broader community.
Supporting guest leadership through official initiatives like the Guest Advisory Board doesn’t just help us to better realize our mission, it’s also the right thing to do. Our community members deserve a seat at the table where decisions are being made that impact their lives. Moreover, we are committed to going beyond gathering guest input and work to create an environment where people with lived experience of homelessness – and experience working with MK specifically – have decision-making power.
The Guest Advisory Board helps us to actualize our values of centering our guests and advocating for social justice and meaningful social change. It is grounded in best practices and has been informed by conversations with guests, consultants, experts, partner organizations, national organizations, and nearly a decade of guest leadership work at MK. The current iteration has specifically been designed and vetted by MK guest leaders.
