It all starts with a great meal.
The meals program is the first access point to the gateway to housing.
Miriam’s Kitchen operates the only meals program in Washington, D.C. that is open, Monday through Friday, all year long, no matter the holiday or weather emergency.
All of our meals are made with fresh, healthy ingredients. The restaurant-quality food we serve shows our guests that we care, and they matter. It builds a bridge of trust. And it makes it possible to form a relationship with each individual who comes through our doors.
Food insecurity is an immense challenge for both MK’s housed and unhoused guests. In addition to providing approximately 100,000 made-from-scratch meals annually on-site, MK provides no-contact deliveries of groceries and prepared foods to support our elderly Permanent Supportive Housing residents so they can safely shelter in place. Additionally, the quality of meals is assessed based on benchmarks like lean proteins and whole grains, and on average we earn a score of 3.8 out of 4.0.

Give In Kind

Thank you for considering making a donation of needed items to Miriam’s Kitchen.
In an effort to ensure we have the items our guests need more consistently and make efficient use of staff time, we’ve changed our in-kind donation process.
We can no longer accept uncoordinated in-kind items dropped off at Miriam’s Kitchen. However, those interested in making bulk donations of non-food items should send an email to in-kind@miriamskitchen.org to coordinate in-kind donations.
We are suspending our Amazon wish list until after we resume normal operations, given the reduction of staff on-site.
If you are a partner, please reach out to Rachel Glassman, Corporate Partnerships Officer, at rachel.glassman@miriamskitchen.org to coordinate and schedule an in-kind drive.
As of now, these are the only ways to donate in-kind items to Miriam’s Kitchen.

Because much of our food is donated to us by community partners, farmers’ markets, grocery stores, restaurant suppliers and local artisans we can serve a 5-6 item meal for approximately $1.25.
